THEATRICAL REVIEW: Sing 2 an absolute musical treat

This adorable little holiday movie will make you light up from head-to-toe.

The original Sing came out of nowhere five years ago, and it’s been a long road to a sequel.

Although I can attest that Sing 2 isn’t strictly necessary, it sure is a whole lot of fun. It follows theatre director Buster Moon and his gang of furry, talented friends as they try to put on a major show.

Backed by a terrifying music magnate Mr. Crystal, they go on a search for reclusive rock-star Clay Calloway, who’s the key to their show’s success.

The music is fantastic, and the voice cast is incredible. Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Scarlett Johansson, Tori Kelly, Taron Egerton, Nick Kroll, Chelsea Peretti, Nick Offerman, and Letitia Wright are all fantastic.

Look for inspired voice turns from newcomers Halsey, Bono and Bobby Cannavale, and writer-director Garth Jennings having a great time as franchise comedic hit Miss Crawly,

The stakes aren’t’ high here, but they don’t have to be. During this tumultuous pandemic time, sometimes you just need to enjoy yourself. Sing 2 is just the toe-tapping ticket.
