If you’re looking for a wild good time and some great kung-fu action sequences, it really doesn’t get much better than The Paper Tigers.
It follows three former kung-fu prodigies who have abandoned their teacher. Now in their 40s, washed up and out of top form, they face a new challenge in the wake of their estranged master’s death.
Writer-director Quoc Bao Tran’s debut feature is hilarious, full of heart and contains some really great sequences. But the best thing about the film is the chemistry between the three leads.
Ron Yuan, Alain Uy, and Mykel Shannon Jenkins all make a huge impact here, and are absolutely perfect together.
The script is well-wrought, the tensions are believable, and there are genuinely funny moments.
This movie is fun for everyone, and one of the better films to come out of the wonderful Well Go studios in the last few years.
