This is the kind of B-movie flick with insane gore and gratuitous sex scenes that is destined to be a late-night favourite.
Five teen movie theatre employees in a deeply Christian town find a 35mm film reel that awakens a sex demon upon them.
Yes, this movie is absolutely, entirely cheesy from start to finish. But it knows exactly what it is, and that makes all the difference.
The cast of horny teenagers, including handsome, mysterious Ricky (Glenn Scott), newly-minted assistant manager Lilith (Katelyn Pierce) and recently-caught peeping tom Todd (Larry Saperstein) are all fantastic.
But it’s film projectionist Heavy Metal Jeff (Robbie Tann) who steals the show. He’s so hilarious and refuses to be just another archetype.
For anyone who’s worked at or has a vested interesting in the cinema of old, this movie is incredible fun.
It’s hallucinatory images, witty and funny moments and perfect blend of horror and comedy make this one of the biggest surprises of the year.
