SOLO BLURAY REVIEW

Alden Ehrenreich is Han Solo and Joonas Suotamo is Chewbacca in SOLO: A STAR WARS STORY.

The latest chapter in the Disney-Lucasfilm Star Wars saga is the standalone prequel Solo: A Star Wars Story.
Besides being one of the most misunderstood films of the year, it also had one of the most tumultuous behind-the-scenes shooting difficulties.
Whether it was the late director swap to the great Ron Howard or early indications young Alden Ehrenreich was veering too far from original Han Solo Harrison Ford’s character, there were a lot of conflicting reports.
But I’m here to tell you that, while uneven, Solo is also a heck of a ride and a wonderful adventure.
One of the best parts of the bonus features was the cast roundtable, featuring Howard, Ehrenreich, Emilia Clarke, Woody Harrelson and Donald Glover.
The factoids you get about the film are entertaining and lend themselves well for all sorts of Star Wars geekery info.
Perhaps my favourite feature was the discussion between Lawrence Kasdan — original Star Wars writer — and his son Jonathan, who co-writes here.
As a journalist and writer, the process was really interesting and I loved to see the interaction.
There are also mini-documentaries Remaking the Millenium Falcon and Escape from Correlia, as well as a doc about the best part of the movie, the train heist.
There is so much more here, and the bluray itself is worth owning just for the film, and the bonus features are just amazing extras for fans of the franchise.
