REVIEW: Jumanji delights, dazzles in wonderful reboot

In a film era when reboots and long-gestating sequels reign supreme, somehow, Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle, manages to be both, and be far better than anyone expected.

It’s a whole lot funnier than the 90’s original, and with Dwayne Johnson and Kevin Hart’s undeniable chemistry, this is one of the most enjoyable films of 2017.

It follows four teenagers who — upon discovering a Jumanji videogame — are sucked into an alternate vortex.

As they take on the avatars they chose, they embark on a quest to save the jungle from the villainous Van Pelt (played by the always-wonderful Bobby Cannavale).

With supporting performances from the kick-ass Karen Gillian and Nick Jonas, this one is fun for the entire family.

However, the true delight is Jack Black, as a teenage girl who morphs into him in the game. It’s his best performance in years, and coupled with The Polka King on Netflix, it makes one of his most successful time periods since his 2003 heyday.

Join the ride today, and get on board with Jumanji.
